About
System 1.0's Finder wasn't even a specific Apple IIGS application, rather it was a modified version of MouseDesk, an earlier effort (made no less, by VersionSoft, the French team behind many early IIGS applications) to bring the Mac's look and feel to the Apple II.
This buggy early release did feature some interesting tidbits - You can view text files from within the Finder by selecting them in a window and choosing 'Show Text File' from the Apple menu - a time saving technique not explored again until text editor desk accessories started appearing some years later. Other psuedo desk accessories were a calculator and puzzle.
Although development of the IIGS Finder was well underway by this point, it wouldn't be until mid 1987 that ProDOS 16 1.3 would be released, and with it, the much anticipated IIGS Finder.
